Frequently asked Q & A’s How do I know that my nail technician is sanitising her tools properly before using them on me? Sanitation in nail salons is a big issue today. All our tools are submerged in disinfectant between clients and we also offer you the option to buy your own personal files.
Overlays, also known as wraps, are layers of acrylic or UV Gel applied directly to your natural nail without the extension. It is the chosen service for clients who have achieved the length they prefer and who no longer require a tip
What is a re-balance? As the nail enhancement grows, the strength in the reinforced apex shifts location and the shadow of your natural nail appears behind the ‘smile line’ and the gap between the cuticle and product widens. We thin down the enhancement and reposition the apex smile line and overall weight so that your nails will look and feel as good as they did when they were first done. A rebalance is required every 2½ – 3 weeks. What is lifting and how do I recognise it? Lifting is normally seen at the cuticle area. This whitish appearance occurs when the product has loosened from the natural nail plate. This lifted area could harbour bacteria and should be repaired at your next appointment. Should I give my nails a ‘breather’
from enhancements? No, it is a common myth. Nails are made of keratin (dead cells) they do not breathe. Will nail extensions ruin my nails? No. Damage is mostly caused by improper treatment of the natural nail, improper removal of product or failure to follow a qualified technician’s after-care advice. Correctly applied and maintained your nails should remain in good condition. How strong are nail extensions? They are very strong however you should treat them with care and remember that over taxing them can put unwanted strain on your natural nails. We will give you good after care advice. What is a fill-in? As the nail enhancement grows, a gap between the cuticle and product widens a ‘fill in’ corrects that. A fill in is required every 2 weeks.
