1. What should I consider when choosing a Training School? Back to top
Does the school offer education towards National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) standards.
Will the qualification enable me to get insurance and membership with industry providers?
Is the product I will use on the course popular and respected within the nail industry?
Is the price inclusive of all products required for the course?
Will I have to spend course time as a model for fellow students or are we each provided with a nail trainer?
How much product will I be given?
Can I get ongoing support and further training as required?

2. Do you offer any discount?Back to top
There is an additional £25.00 off for two or more people enrolling on the same course.

3. Why should I go on to do an NVQ?Back to top
Qualifications are a mark of your professionalism and provide evidence that you take your occupation seriously. After you have completed your course with The Nail Academy you will practice doing nail enhancements, keep client record cards, and make sure that you have learnt everything by re-reading your manual.
It will be easy to register for your NVQ as doing all this will have put you well on the way to gaining it!
Clients and employers may expect you to have an NVQ and some local authorities will require it.

4. How much is the course deposit and when must the balance be paid?Back to top
On either the four or five day courses a deposit of £250.00 is required to secure your place. The balance is due before or on the first day of your course.

5. Where can I go to get grants or funding?Back to top
Your local job centre will be able to tell you what/if any government schemes might be available. There are some grants and loans available to help with payment of our training courses. (For instance the Princes Trust). Eligibility criteria apply so you will need to discuss your personal circumstances with the organisation concerned.

6. What happens if I fail my assessment-do I have to pay again?Back to top
No- retakes are completely free of charge. Our pass rate is around 98%

7. Can I pay by instalments?Back to top
We don’t offer instalments but you can stagger your payments up until you are ready to join your chosen course.

8. Why are the courses so much shorter than at further education colleges?Back to top
Don’t be deceived! On a five day course you will be learning for approx 6 hours a day. That’s about 30 hours. Some colleges only do 3 hours a week for 10 weeks. This is an intensive course, held in groups no larger than 8 pupils – your tuition is personalised and thorough.

9. Will I get plenty of practice on the course?Back to top
All our students are given their own ‘practice hand’. A state of the art nail trainer which is fully jointed and has replaceable nail plates – almost no time will be wasted modelling for each other so you will have plenty of practice.
You will also have your model to do your first full set of nail enhancements on a day 3 and full rebalance on day 4 – all in the safety of the classroom environment.

10. Are the course trainers fully qualified?Back to top
Your trainer will be a member of the CIPD, a registered assessor, hold an NVQ in Nail Services and a Master Nail Technician.

11. What will I get in my starter kit?Back to top
You will receive a large professional student kit with enough product for more than 30 sets of nail enhancements. A high quality nail trainer with fully articulated fingers and replaceable nail plates is available to purchase for £125.00 or to hire with a refundable deposit.

12. I live a long way from Camberley / Bagshot - where will I stay?Back to top
We can provide you with an accommodation list or check the link below http://www.bedandbreakfasts.co.uk/propertysearch.asp?query=GU18

13. How do I get to Camberley?Back to top
Camberley is on junction 3 or 4 of the M3 which runs from London south-west to Southampton. The M3 is junction 12 off the M25. There is a good rail link to Camberley. Full directions will be sent with your confirmation of booking.

14. What time does the day start and finish?Back to top
You will be expected at 9.45am for a 10am start and finish at 5.00pm each day

15. What is the dress code for the classroom?Back to top
Please dress smart casual. If you already have a therapist’s uniform and want to wear it, please do. Hair should be held away from the face and minimum sensible jewellery may be worn.

16. I have special needs. Will I be able to do a course?Back to top
Please discuss your needs with us and where possible we will tailor the class to meet those needs.

17. What if I have to cancel my course?Back to top
Deposits and course payments are non refundable. In the event of a valid reason for cancellation of a course The Nail Academy may, at their discretion offer to transfer the booking to a later course.

18. Do you have a recommended reading list?Back to top
There is an ever changing list of many excellent books available to add to your course notes for an even deeper understanding of your new career. They are available through The Association of Nail Technicians (ANT) or any good book shop. Please ask for details.

19. Can I get insurance after the course?Back to top
Yes. Our courses are a minimum of 4 or 5 days - a requirement of most good insurers. You will have no problem arranging good, inexpensive insurance. We will give you full details in your starter pack. http://www.professionalbeauty.co.uk
